Community Initiatives

Initiatives to empower others in declaring: "We are not afraid anymore."

Picture
Rainbow Advocacy is partnering with the Charter for Compassion International, using the Community Tool Box for our local and global LGBTQ initiatives.  This is a four-part model or framework for building a Compassionate Community.  In many ways, the model is similar to other models for organizing a community-building effort to address pain and suffering within the community.  The difference in the Charter’s model is in perspective and intention. Those working to create Compassionate Communities are moved through empathy to compassionate action, which ultimately benefits those within and outside the community.

Step 1:
Discover & Assess
We begin by learning what issues matter to the community and what resources are available.
Step 2:
Focus & Commit
Planning will provide direction forward, with a clear vision, a mission statement, objectives, strategies, and an action plan.
Step 3:
Build & Launch
Identify specific things we most care about and take action, mobilizing people around the effort and implementing some sorts of interventions.
Step 4:
Evaluate & Sustain
We will know the initiative is working by monitoring what is happening and make adjustments as necessary.
