GetaVision

Picture
GetaVision was a project of Rainbow Advocacy (formerly Metropolitan Community Charities), to leveraging media, technology and partnerships to encourage compassionate action among LGBTQ people around the world.

GetaVision was created in 2010 to develop deeper connections with others while cultivating unconditional love & acceptance, peace & security, health & wellness, along with enhanced self-respect & pride.  A few of the events from 2010 - 2015:

2010
  • Launch with LIVESTRONG
  • Joint fundraising for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and other nonprofits
  • LIVESTRONG Day joint projects
  • West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Creative City Awards "Community Service" Nominee
  • California Senate Commendation
2011 - 2012
  • Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Awards in Washington, DC
  • Project development with Charter for Compassion International and Compassion Games
2013

2010 Launch
How it started
Picture
The idea for GetaVision came to me when I was recovering from a life-threatening battle with HIV/AIDS and stage 4 cancer.

It seemed like my entire life had been pulled apart and the only thing left was the love that pulled me through.  Things which seemed so important to me before that fight simply vanished, along with material things I had valued for so long.  And I lost my vision for my life and the path ahead.

GetaVision was to be a way to help others -- and myself -- find a deeper purpose and vision for their lives.

While the focus changed a bit over the years, the vision was always on helping each other to live the best and healthiest lives ever!
